Description: An employment opportunity is available at the Foundation 2 Youth Shelter. We have a 17 bed facility providing short-term stays in a safe compassionate environment for young people ages 11 – 17.
Job Description: The primary duty of this position is to ensure the safety and welfare of the youth residing at the shelter. This is accomplished through actively seeking to learn about each resident, building positive relationships, looking for strengths and valuing the uniqueness of each youth. The overnight youth specialist will also help youth adapt to the shelter environment always being mindful of the history and challenges faced by each resident. Documentation of interactions residents have with one another and with staff is required daily. All shelter employees treat residents, their families, visitors and other staff with respect and consideration to create a place of emotional safety. This position pays up to $18.15 per hour with benefit dollars.
Qualifications: Education and Experience: BA/BS degree (related field preferred) and 1 year of human service experience, or AA degree (related field preferred) and 2 years human service experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by Foundation 2, insurance company. Must pass criminal and child abuse background checks. Some computer experience required.
Desired Qualifications: Experience working with at-risk youth. Education or training in trauma informed care, strengths based practices, conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
