Because you are a friend of Foundation 2, we know you believe mental health services in Iowa are important. We are sharing information from Senator Rob Hogg’s recent email newsletter regarding the proposed closure of two mental health institutes on Iowa. “With a mental health crisis in Iowa, including 180,000 Iowans with a serious mental illness, 3,000 inmates with a serious mental illness, and 445 suicides in 2013, these proposals impact individuals in need of supportive mental health services. We urgently need more mental health beds, not less. Iowa law requires legislative approval for any closing of the mental health institutes. You can make a difference by calling Governor Branstad’s office at 515-281-5211 to urge him to work with legislators and support the mental health institutes and services. Please also contact legislators of both parties to urge bipartisan support for mental health.” Your voice matters!
