Transitional Living/Supervised Apartment Living Programs

Foundation 2's Transitional Living Program (TLP) and Supervised Apartment Living Program (SALP) are designed to provide housing, skills training and support services to young adults (ages 16-21 for TLP, 16-19 for SALP) for whom family living or residential treatment is no longer an option.

Who Is Eligible?

TLP accepts non-system (not involved with the Department of Human Services) young men and women, ages 16-21, who have demonstrated the maturity to assume adult responsibilities. SALP accepts 16 to 19 year-olds referred by the Department of Human Services or Juvenile Court Services.

Where Do Participants Live?

Program apartments are located throughout the community. Staff maintain close contact with participants. Furnishings are provided by the program. If a participant successfully completes the program, he or she may keep these items.

Educational Goals

All participants must be actively working toward their high school diplomas or equivalency; attending vocational training or higher education; or working full-time. If educational goals are completed and a youth is working full-time, he or she will be allowed to continue in the program, working toward the goal of self-sufficiency.

Employment Requirements

All participants must be employed. The required number of hours is determined on an individual basis.

Group Meetings

Mandatory meetings on topics such as employment, money management, tenant rights and responsibilities, safety, sexuality, and other relevant topics are held weekly.

Household Maintenance

Staff help youth become skilled at household maintenance tasks, including cleaning, grocery-shopping and cooking.

Savings Requirements

Participants must save a designated percentage of their monthly income.

TLP Only

TLP participants who successfully complete the program may be eligible for all or part of the money they contributed toward rent during their stay in the program.
