Independent Living Services

Foundation 2's Independent Living Services provide supportive services for homeless and runaway youth (ages 16-21) located in the Cedar Rapids area.  Services include transitional living support (housing is not available at this time), Iowa aftercare services, Achieving Maximum Potential (AMP), the Life Skills Accountability program and Youth Transition Decision Making. 

Who Is Eligible?

  • Independent Living Program and Transitional Living support serve homeless youth ages 16-21
  • Iowa aftercare serves youth who have reached the maximum age to receive formal child welfare services
  • AMP is a foster care advocacy group for anyone who has been in an out of home placement including those who have aged out of foster care (ages 13-18)
  • Life Skills Accountability program is a cognitive restructuring and community service based program for delinquent youth who are referred from Juvenile Court Services.
  • Youth Transition Decision Making is a client-centered process to prepare youth who will be aging out of DHS or JCS services.

    How Can We Help?

The Foundation 2 ILP program provides rent support and assistance with client needs (including items such as household items and bus tickets)  to  prevent homelessness of young people in our community.
