Foundation 2 Provides a Caring Atmosphere

August 13, 2009
Social Work is predicated on looking at the whole person and what we term treating or being present to the "person in the environment". This is one of the features that I first came to appreciate at Foundation 2, which shares those values. In the initial 60 hour training at the Crisis Center we were trained to respect where a person is at emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We learned that a client is the author of his/her own life and deserves our respect. That has resonated with me throughout my educational career and also in my career at the Crisis Center. I truly believe that change happens in a collaborative, nurturing, caring atmosphere and that the quality of the relationship between me and a client is the best predictor of the success of our work together. Therefore I feel truly honored to be a part of and invited into my clients' lives.
